Welcome to Shoresh USA!
Shoresh USA serves as a connecting point to opportunities in Northeast Florida that explore the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. Shoresh, which means "root" in Hebrew, is a ministry that seeks to nourish the Church by teaching the biblical heritage we share with the Jewish people, thereby restoring the Jewishness of the Christian faith.
In his letter to the Romans, the Rabbi Paul explains that the Church is comprised of both Jews and Gentiles. To illustrate this idea, he uses the image of an olive tree: Gentile Christians are like a wild olive shoot, grafted onto the root of their Jewish heritage so they can share in its "nourishing sap." Paul exhorts these Christians to consider, "You do not support the root, but the root supports you" (Romans 11:18 NIV).
As 21st-century Christians, we are far removed from the first-century world of Jesus and the cultural context of His ministry. Understanding our own Jewish roots gives us a clearer picture of Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. Through teaching programs, events, and other resources, the goal of Shoresh is to shed light on the Jewish life of Jesus in order to deepen Christian discipleship and foster a loving witness to the Jewish people.
