Why share a monthly Hebrew lesson?

In 1995 I attended a conference at which one of the speakers introduced us to the basics of Hebrew and then shared biblical lessons from some familiar passages by teaching us the Hebrew meaning of key words.  The Hebrew language is very pictorial, not at all abstract, as can be the English language.  In these lessons a picture was formed in our minds as we listened to the words.  During that message, my passion for the Word of God was re-kindled, and a desire to learn Hebrew was planted in my heart. Since then, ten years later, I have taken numerous Hebrew classes, and though I am by no means fluent, I have come to appreciate the benefit of looking at Scripture through Hebraic eyes.  Looking at Scripture from its Hebraic context certainly involves considering the culture, not just the language.  However, this monthly offering is one way of sharing just a taste of the richness of Scripture when viewed from the original Hebrew language.  It is my hope that your study of God’s Word will be enriched with these offerings.
